News and Posters

I have been wanting to write you about something that I have been stumbling across in Vienna as well as Frankfurt and Berlin (and I assume this will be seen more often around the world). What you see above are [smart | Interactive | responsive | lbs] posters that for instance let you get data out of it (via an infrared-port) in order to obtain an URL. This URL brings you to a mp3 Download which you can have for your mobile. I have not been able to try it out myself due to not having an infra-red port on my mobile anymore, but the message is there! Get your digital fix from where you are! I assume that this kind of service will spread but I also assume, that a costly infrared port is probably not the way to go… (although, what I have heard a datamatrix code is not able to suck your client-information *before* loading the given goodie-URL). What I actually really like about this is how the barrier of cliking/scanning things (posters, tags) is being lowered which is also good for Semapedia as a project.

In other news and printed ones for that matter: We have been featured in the print-issue of german Chip Magazine which has been around long before Stan and I learned to dabble on our C-64s. The article is generally discussing Datamatrix and “Scan-Commerce” Technology and applications and features Semapedia on the first of two pages with a large image of Christoph scanning a Semapedia Tag at the leaning tower of Pisa. Well we’re quiet flattered about this and give you a small preview of it here. Note that the crumbledness of the paper is due to heavy rain and snowfall and as soon as we get a scanner somewhere will show the whole article.
