QR Codes in Australia
Via All about Mobile (awesome, thanks Roger!) we have learned about a very exciting development in Australia: Telstra, provider of Australias fastest Next G network, is trialing the deployment and usage of QR Codes as part of their strategy to move from a traditional telecommunications provider to a media-communications company.
Quoting the original article Telstra will allow customers to receive directional maps and obtain discount offers from vendors including Nike and Toyota, along with fast-food outlets [using QR Codes].
The hopefully soon coming rollout will enable Telstra customers to engage much more spontaneously with mobile services in relation to their physical location.
Most importantly it will provide our fellow Australians with phones that come equipped with a code reader to use Semapedia.org Tags! If you are living in Australia, start tagging now!
